Volunteering and Internships
Office | April 15, 2010
Citizens of Europe is happy to offer young people opportunities to leave the environment familiar to them and engage as volunteers abroad. It is our deep conviction that contributing to civic initiatives and collaborating with others in transnational projects is in the personal interest of everyone of us. We also intend to strengthen our network of partners with the help of such projects. Since 2006 we are an accredited Hosting, Sending and Coordinating Organisation in the Youth in Action programme of the European Commission.
Voluntary engagement enables young people to take up innovative ideas and get new perspectives. Through cooperation in the field of volunteering and internship we help young people to create spaces where they can present themselves, exchange with peers, develop their skills and implement own initiatives in a collaborative effort.
So far we have hosted about 10 volunteers and interns in our office in Berlin. They get to know how Citizens of Europe functions as a European network and contribute to one of our various project formats (e.g. MyEurope short film festival). Furthermore they have a chance to develop a project of their own, the implementation of which we support inside our network (see the example of Comic Youth! Exchange, organised by our former volunteer Chryssa Thanella).
We also send volunteers from Germany abroad. So far we have send motivated youngsters for example to cultural, social and educational projects in Belgium, Bulgaria, Poland, Estonia and Moldova. See the constantly updated list below.
